Orca OR-440 — Sound Harness with Aluminium Spine and Memory Foam

The OR-440 is Orca's rework of the OR-40, and the aluminium spine is what changed. It connects the waist belt to the top vest and pulls the load off your shoulders onto your hips, so a heavy bag stops hanging from your neck by the end of a long day. The spine is removable — pull it out and you have a straightforward vest-and-belt harness for lighter bags, which is most of what a run-and-gun day actually needs.

Padding is 3D memory foam over a mesh backing, softer than the foam in the OR-400 and noticeably better at damping the thump you feel when you shift weight. Roller buckles let you cinch the belt one-handed anywhere from a 60 cm to a 130 cm waist. There's a back accessory pocket, and the whole thing folds down into the supplied zip pouch at 40 × 20 × 12 cm for transport.

Sitting below the OR-445 in the range: no pneumatic height adjustment and no USB port, but 400 g lighter and considerably less money. If you want the patented spinal support system, look at the OR-445 instead.
